William Patterson-Small Format-Large ViewsDecember 10, 2011-January 11, 2012 Opening Reception: December 10, 7-10 PM Held at: Laura Moore Fine Art Studios Contact: laura@lauramooreart.com In William Patterson's quiet, personal, intimate, and poetical views of Italy, he does not paint merely hills, mountains and trees; he paints space, atmosphere and weather. His new paintings are small in format, but huge in the created space of each composition featuring both inside and outside views of Italy. Several works in this exhibition of over twenty paintings were done on site in the open air in and around Cortona, Assisi, and other locations in Umbria and Tuscany where Patterson frequents. Termed a Classical Contemporary Realist, Patterson is above all a composer of spaces in the abstract sense. In his landscapes, he says he likes "to create 20 miles of space on a three-inch panel." In his still life paintings, he seeks to create his personal attraction to what he calls God's "little moments" of visual beauty.
